Coaching vs. Therapy: What’s the Difference?

Both coaching and therapy offer valuable support, but they serve different purposes.

Coaching

  • Focuses on present goals and future direction
  • Action-oriented and growth-focused
  • Helps build skills, structure, and accountability

  • Does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions

Therapy

  •  Focuses on emotional healing and mental health treatment

  • Addresses clinical concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, or other diagnoses 
  • Provided by licensed mental health professionals within a clinical framework
     

At Bridgepoint, coaching is designed to complement, not replace, therapy. If therapeutic support is needed, we may encourage working with a licensed mental health provider.
